What is BOTOX Treatment / Botulinum toxin Injection?

Botox, a toxin produced by the Clostridium botulinum bacteria, is commonly used to reduce facial wrinkles. It specifically targets dynamic wrinkles caused by muscle movement, such as frown lines, crow's feet, and forehead lines.

Wrinkles of the face that can be treated with Botulinum toxin include

  • Forehead lines.

  • Dents in the chin.

  • Glabellar lines ( Horizontal lines appear above your eyebrows).

  • Frown lines ( Vertical lines between eyes).

  • Bunny lines (Lines across the bridge of the nose).

  • Brow lift (Creates a lifting effect of the brow).

  • Aging muscle necklines.

Static wrinkles [cannot be treated with Botox]

As we age, sun exposure, dehydration, and other factors damage the elastic fibres in our skin's middle layer. Our body repairs these injuries with long collagen fibres, but these new fibres lack the flexibility of the originals. This accumulation of long fibers makes skin loose and inelastic, creating wrinkles. These wrinkles can be temporary or permanent, depending on the collagen's state. Permanent wrinkles occur when the long fibres break while compressed, leading to their replacement by shorter, inflexible fibers that lock the skin in a folded state. Static wrinkles are a natural part of aging, but their severity can be influenced by various lifestyle factors.

Procedure

The wrinkles to be addressed are first identified. The injection points are then marked. The procedure involves tiny injections directly into the wrinkle, followed by the gradual diffusion of the product into the facial muscles responsible for the dynamic wrinkles. Before the treatment, a numbing cream is applied to minimize discomfort. The procedure is performed with strict aseptic preacutions. Botox is particularly effective for dynamic wrinkles caused by muscle movement, such as frown lines, crow's feet, and forehead lines.
